About: Juan Jr Dayang

Dr. Juan E. Dayang, Jr. is a professional diplomat from the Philippines and currently assigned at the Philippine Embassy in Prague, Czech Republic since 2013 as deputy head of mission. He joined the Philippine Philippine foreign service as a Foreign Service Officer in year 2000. Previously he was assigned at the Philippine Embassy in Seoul, Korea from 2002 to 2008 and was assigned as Economic and Political Officer, Public Diplomacy Officer, Consular Officer, Administrative Officer and ASEAN Committee Working Group representative. In the Department of Foreign Affairs in Manila, he was assigned as Director of ASEAN Summits, the Office of ASEAN Affairs (2012-2013), Special Assistant for the Undersecretary for Migrant Workers Affairs (2009), and Principal Assistant and later Acting Director at the Office of Asian and Pacific Affairs (2000 to 2008). He started his blog in Canberra, Australia as a Doctoral student at the Australian National University's Asia-Pacific College of Diplomacy. Prior to joining the Foreign Service, he was an assistant professorial lecturer of International Business at De La Salle University and research fellow at the Yuchengco Centre for East Asia. He was involved in electoral politics in the Philippines and organized a youth political party, the Alliance for Youth Solidarity. He was also program officer of the Forum of Democratic Leaders in the Asia Pacific headed by the late Nobel Laureate Kim Dae-jung. Jed has published academic articles as well as feature and news articles in university journals as well as in magazines and newspapers in the Philippines, Korea and Australia. He holds a Doctorate in Diplomacy degree from Australian National University , a Masters of Public Administration (MPA) from the University of Oklahoma, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Graduate Institute of Peace Studies, Kyung Hee University and a Bachelor's degree in Management at San Beda College . He was a visiting researcher at the Institute for the Study of International Migration (ISIM), Georgetown University in 2011.
